This month we will be reviewing for end of level tests, and taking the tests!
It is vitally important that your student is here on time every single day possible.
Our testing schedule is:
Science: Monday, April 16, 9:00 am and Wednesday, April 18, 9:00 am.
Language Arts: Monday April 23, 9:00 am, and Thursday, April 26, 9:00 am.
Math: Tuesday, May 1, 9:00 am, and Friday May 4, 9:00 am.
We will start testing right at 9:00, so students cannot be late.
This month is pioneer month for us, too. We have the Frontier Homestead State Park coming with pioneer activities one afternoon, and we will have 2 weeks of pretending to travel west with a wagon train headed for Utah.
Our class is practicing to do the play "Little Red Writing Hood" for the school and for parents on Thursday, May 10, during the day and in the evening. Every student has a part, help them practice it.
No spelling lists until we start Pirate Days in May.
Thanks so much to all the wonderful parents who support and help their students every day. I really appreciate this fantastic group of students, I know it helps that they have great families supporting them. It has been a real pleasure to be their teacher this year.

Fun February
This month is another great one in 4th grade at North Elementary! We are learning about animals in our literacy program. Everyone will write a short report about wolves, and a longer one about a Utah animal of their choice.
We are learning about Lines, Angles and Shapes in Math. We will have some fun projects to go with it.
Science is still about Utah habitats, including animal and plant adaptations.
We have a Valentine's day party, too!
What a fantastic time to be in 4th grade. Hope you are here every day!

January
This is an exciting time to be in 4th grade! We finish learning about fossils and start learning about plants and animals with Mrs. Adams.
We will also finish up the unit on fractions. And we learn about a math review program called Mountain Math.
Language arts is a blast this month as we learn about fairy tales, folk tales, and myths. We actually write our own fractured fairy tale!
Be ready for lots of learning and lots of fun, too. Come every day ready to work hard, and you will be amazed at how much you can achieve.

November
During the month of November we will be finishing our unit on division in Math, and starting fractions. Be sure your student is doing homework every night. There should be about 15-20 minutes of math work, 30 minutes of reading and 10 minutes of spelling practice every night.
We will finish learning about rocks and soil. Every student should know the names of 4 igneous, 4 sedimentary, and 4 metamorphic rocks. They should be able to draw a profile of soil layers.
We start the month with a bang by going to the play Bye Bye Birdie, and visiting the Braithwaite Art Gallery. We also focus on Native American cultures.
This should be a terrific month filled with lots of learning and fun! Please be here every day possible.

October
This month we are focusing on tall tales and "scary" stories. Mrs. Mel will help us with monster make-up, and following step by step instructions. We will read and write tall tales for the first two weeks. At the end of the month we will write a persuasive paper about the monster we think is most terrifying.
Math this month will focus on the basic functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will include decimal numbers.
Science rocks in our class this month as we investigate rocks and minerals.
A great opportunity to experience pioneer life will happen on the 13th, when we visit the Frontier Homestead State Park.
Please be here on time every day to find out what new and exciting things we are doing!
